How to play
If you've ever solved a crossword, you already know how to play Bible Crossword Challenge. Every answer comes from Scripture — the people, places, miracles, and verses of the King James Version — and every puzzle ends on the verse behind its theme.
The basics
Tap a square, read the clue, type the answer. Tapping a square highlights the word it belongs to and shows its clue; tapping again switches between Across and Down. Filled letters that cross your word are already working for you — a single right answer unlocks letters in every word it touches.
The number in parentheses is the answer's length. A clue like “Bird sent out that returned with an olive leaf (4)” wants a four-letter answer. When the whole grid is right, it flashes green and the closing verse appears.
Hints, without spoilers
Stuck squares don't have to stay stuck. Hints work in steps — check a letter, reveal a letter, or reveal a word — so you can get exactly as much help as you want and no more. There's no timer and no penalty: the puzzle is a quiet moment, not a race.
Streaks and achievements
A fresh puzzle arrives every midnight. Finish it and your streak grows by one; achievements mark the milestones from Bible Beginner all the way to Apostle. Progress saves on your device and syncs privately through iCloud, so an iPad evening continues an iPhone morning.
Five tips for Bible crosswords
1. Think KJV. Answers follow the King James Version — Saviour, honour, armour. If an answer looks one letter too long, it's probably the spelling.
2. Start with what you know. Sweep the clues and fill the certainties first — every letter you place makes its crossing words easier.
3. Short words are friends. Three- and four-letter Bible answers repeat across puzzles: ark, Eden, Ruth, Job, law, lamb.
4. Let the theme guide you. Every puzzle tells one story. In Noah's Ark, think flood; in the Christmas story, think Luke 2.
5. Re-read the verse. The chapter under the puzzle title is the best hint in the game — the closing verse is drawn straight from it.
