He is on the road with letters in his hand authorising arrests when a light shines round about him and a voice asks a question with his name in it twice. Saul on the Damascus Road covers Acts 9 — the three days without sight, the street called Straight, the disciple sent to him who quite reasonably argues first.
The clue about what fell from his eyes has one of the best answers in the archive, because the KJV's own image is already a metaphor. The closing verse is the question from the light.
