John 10
The Good Shepherd Bible Crossword
Jesus takes the oldest image in Israel's poetry and applies it to himself: the shepherd who goes in by the door, calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. The Good Shepherd covers John 10 and the parable of the lost sheep alongside it — the hireling who flees, the wolf, the ninety and nine left in the wilderness.
It pairs naturally with Psalm 23, which is the same picture a thousand years earlier. The closing verse is the sentence the whole chapter is built on.
